Words and Pictures
Having a website is not enough
Many people create websites without clear goals of what they are to accomplish. A website, maintained and updated by you, offers a tremendous means of generating excitement and involvement among those back home who are supporting financially and/or praying for you.
My goal is to help you create a website that is a tool for drawing people into your ministry as prayer partners and financial supporters who will remain involved in your ministry on a daily basis.
Why “Words and Pictures”?
As a professional designer for now over 13 years, my passion is effective communication—finding a core message and giving that message in such a way that the audience wants to read it and act on it. My main tools are words and pictures. How words and pictures are used determines how effective communication will be.
A missionary’s main tools for communicating with churches back home are also words and pictures (in a prayer letter, in a message during furlough, in a slide-show or power-point presentation). Just like my profession, how you use words and pictures determines how effective those words and pictures are.
The internet offers you a chance to use words and pictures to communicate, but with the added ingredient of timeliness. No longer do people need to receive a once-monthly update on various topics. Now they can read about your ministry as it is happening, and see it as well through pictures. No longer do people who are praying for you need to pray in generalities simply because all the information they have is past tense. Now they can pray about events that are happening that same day.
The result
The end goal and result of all this is a large and growing group of people who are actively involved in your ministry through timely prayer and financial support. Your passion for the ministry that God has called you to will become the passion of those back home as well. Your heartbeat will become their heartbeat.
